Being Mommy Bedtime Stories

Cecilia spent her next visit with Grandpa going to the store to purchase painting supplies, and then painting a picture for her mother of the rainbow field of Gerbera daisies that she had seen in Envintia. She painted all the colors that she could remember, mixing the paints until she had each color just right. She remembered how the whole field was full of flowers, and she couldn’t even see the ground from up in the sky on Ty’s back. It took her all day to finish the painting, but when she was done, she knew that all her work had been worth it – it was beautiful! They jumped and jumped – Cecilia, Grandpa, and Ty – for about ten minutes.  When they stopped for a minute to rest, Ty flew up above the daisies to check out the situation. He came back down after a moment.

“Whoever-it-is must be jumping away from us because we don’t seem to be any closer,” he said.

Cecilia was surprised by this. She hadn’t thought about it when they first started jumping that direction. She looked over at Grandpa, who was standing on a flower next to her, and saw a smile on his face. Of course he would have a solution to their problem! When Cecilia, Grandpa, and Ty has finished their vanilla sand-pudding and raspberry water, Cecilia helped Grandpa stack up the dishes into a pile on the picnic table.

“Grandpa, who will clean these?” Cecilia asked him.

The day after Cecilia, Grandpa, and Ty returned from Corsilon, Cecilia’s mother gave her wonderful news!

“Sweetie, your grandpa and I had a talk, and we decided that he’s going to help us watch you in the afternoons for awhile.” Mom had so many things to keep her busy, she was happy that Grandpa wanted to spend more time with Cecilia.

And Cecilia was delighted! She knew exactly what that meant – more time in Rettel!

When the music finally came to a soft soothing end, Cecilia looked over at Grandpa. He was smiling. It made her truly happy to see Grandpa enjoying himself.

Ty, who had been flying in front of her during most of the song, landed on her knee again. She reached down and stroked his soft white fur. He made no sound but she could tell by the look on his face that he liked it.

She picked Ty up and placed him on her shoulder, then got up off the puffball as Grandpa was getting up himself. As beautiful as the song had been, it also felt nice to stretch her legs a little. Continue reading »

Cecilia, Grandpa, and Ty woke at Grandpa’s house. Grandpa put their magic shoes and Ty’s magic belt safely in the closet, and Cecilia went home. She still wished she could bring Ty home with her, but she didn’t want her parents to see him so she didn’t try to convince Grandpa to change his mind about that.

The next morning Cecilia was up bright and early. She showered, dressed, and brushed her teeth just as fast as she could. She hopped to the kitchen table and ate her breakfast with a smile on her face.

She was happy because she knew she was going to see Grandpa and Ty again this morning. She couldn’t wait to visit another land in Rettel! Continue reading »

Following Leonard down the path, Cecilia walked with Grandpa and Patty while Ty flew just in front of them. Ty was flying in loops and circles, trying to make Cecilia laugh. It was working. She giggled at him as they made their way around the small purple forest. Continue reading »

It was all Cecilia could do to sleep that night. She awoke several times, each time looking immediately at the clock to see if it was time to get out of bed yet. Finally, she looked and it was 7:00am. She jumped out of bed and skipped to the kitchen happily, where Mom was cooking eggs for breakfast.

“Good Morning, Sunshine!” exclaimed Dad. “You look like the happiest little girl in the world!”

“I am, Daddy,” said Cecilia, ” because I get to go to Grandpa’s house today!” Continue reading »
